For those of you who are unfamiliar, Marie Kondo’s KonMari method of organizing has taken the world by beautiful storm. She has helped thousands, if not millions, of people de-clutter and create spaces that bring joy to their lives.

While not all of her principles can apply to your cleaning product cabinets (you probably won’t end up “loving” your soaps and detergents), we definitely believe that you can use some of her guidance to create a space that is more functional and easier to keep stocked and tidy.

• Before you begin, take a look at your cleaning product cabinet or closet and imagine what it could be if it were organized the way you want it.
• Take each item out and properly discard what you can no longer use (recycle the bottles and offer leftover product to someone else who will use it).
• Use plastic storage boxes (or even leftover Tupperware containers) to organize the products and make them easier to find and inventory.
• Add any cleaning products or accessories that are missing and would make your home a more joyful place to live.
